What to Know before Your SculpSure Treatment

If you’ve made the decision to take the plunge and slim down your problem areas, you may be feeling a lot of emotions. You’re excited about getting your confidence back, eager to show off your new bod at the beach, and you may even be a little nervous about getting a laser treatment like SculpSure®. This is all perfectly normal, but knowing how to prepare for SculpSure can help put your mind at ease.

Below are some tips on what you can do to prep for your treatment, as well as more information about what you can expect before, during, and after. Use this to demystify the process and maximize your experience! Here’s what you should know.

How to Prepare for SculpSure

In spite of dieting and exercise, some people are left with stubborn pockets of fat in places like their belly, love handles, thighs, back, and even under the chin. That’s where the FDA-cleared laser SculpSure comes in: without any downtime, this light-based technology can eliminate those trouble spots, without the need for anesthesia or incisions.

Your SculpSure journey begins with a consultation with a licensed practitioner. Depending on where you live, this could be a doctor, physician’s assistant, nurse, or aesthetician. You should be prepared to discuss your medical history, including any medications you take.

Depending on the practice, you may get treated the same day as your consultation or your practitioner may request another appointment date.

It’s Show Time!

When it’s time for the procedure to begin, you’ll be fitted with frames and a belt to specifically target your trouble area. Flat, nonsuction applicators will then be inserted into the frames, which is where the laser energy will be distributed from. You can recline comfortably for just 25 minutes while SculpSure uses its laser technology to destroy up to 24 percent of your fat cells in the treated area.1

During the procedure, you may feel a cooling sensation as the machine alternates between heating the cells and cooling your skin with Advanced Contact Cooling™ technology. Many patients report feeling very little pain; others describe deep warmth, pinching, or tingling sensations.

While the laser works to eliminate your unwanted fat cells, you are free to relax. Multiple areas on your body can be treated on the same day.

You’ll See Results Gradually

It takes time for your body (specifically, your lymphatic system) to eliminate the fat cells that have been destroyed by the heat of the laser. Some patients report seeing a difference as early as six weeks later, and most people see full results in about twelve weeks. The good news is these fat cells are permanently destroyed and will not return.

That being said, typically more than one treatment is suggested to maximize results. This is something you should discuss with your licensed practitioner. The appointments can be scheduled four to six weeks after the first treatment.

No Downtime

After your treatment, go ahead and return to your regularly scheduled lifestyle. You’re free to resume your normal daily activities and even exercise. Keep in mind that you might experience mild pinkness, soreness, or stiffness immediately following the treatment. These side effects usually go away within a few days after the procedure.

Your licensed practitioner may tell you to massage the treatment area for five to ten minutes, twice a day. It’s also a good idea to drink plenty of water to give your body a boost in flushing out the fat cells that have been destroyed during the procedure.

Armed with this information, you can walk into your SculpSure appointment knowing you’re prepared to feel your very best before, during, and especially after!
